Heartspeak

no small thing

you have stepped forth
from this overflowed passage
of time,
humanity
and daily routine
(crowded all about as it is)
caught my attention
and made my heart smile
and that's no small thing

should you now fade
back in the maelstrom
or hold fast
'gainst wind and whim
my heart will still own
(with auspicious avarice)
a memory
that's no small thing
